SERVICES

The servicing and maintenance of the modern European vehicle is a complex technical procedure that requires much attention to detail to maintain the safety and longevity of your vehicle’s performance and value. Advanced electronics and computers control your cars operation, ie: engine, transmission, ABS braking, stability control and dashboard management systems all communicate with each other via digital information.

Pace Motors has refined their service procedures to maximise your satisfaction and convenience with this necessary procedure and provide our clients with a clear picture of the costs involved. Even if your vehicle is still under warranty from the manufacturer, Pace Motors is accredited to take care of all your servicing requirements.

At Pace Motors, each vehicle is inspected and serviced according to its particular requirements and general condition. This can vary greatly depending on the conditions it has been subject to and your driving style. Any items requiring immediate attention will be priced and the maintenance authorised by the client prior to commencement of the work. The high quality lubricant products and parts we use and recommend are OEM backed (manufacturer approved) or are genuine replacement parts supplied at our recommendation.

With a vehicle that is new to the Pace Motors servicing schedules, we recommend our Baseline Service that consists of a comprehensive bumper to bumper inspection which delivers a concise overview of the vehicles condition. A prioritised list of any items that require attention and engine oil and filter change from $415.00. Should the vehicle require, or the client request fully synthetic oil (Mobil 1 or Penrite equivalent) the cost will raise to around $465.00 depending on the quantity of oil required.

Almost all European vehicles will have a documented service history that dictate the requirements at the designated service intervals and will notify the driver of a service due by illuminating a service light on the instrument cluster. An equation of distance travelled, running time and number of engine starts is calculated to provide this. Under no circumstances should this warning light be ignored.

With advancements in automotive technologies, service intervals have been extended up around 25,000kms. This can equate to 2, 3, or 4 years service without an inspection being performed.Pace Motors recommends an interim service to replace engine oil and filter and an examination of all the fluid levels, check brakes and lighting and reset tyre pressures to maintain engine life and vehicle safety standards. This is done at the client’s request and discretion.

It must be stated that Pace Motors is not into the over servicing of any vehicle or its components. We are dedicated to delivering a high level of service and vehicle maintenance to our clientele in a transparent and friendly manner.

PERFORMANCE TUNING

All modern vehicle engines have their tuning controlled by an ECU (Electronic Control Unit), a small computer that receives information from multiple sensors on the engine, transmission, braking and other operating systems and adjusts fuel deliver and ignition settings at around 200 times a second. They are always reading how you drive and constantly adapting themselves to your driving style.

Almost all vehicle ECU’s are dumbed down from the factory to compensate for poor quality fuel and poor servicing, etc. By re-mapping the ECU operating parameters to maximize your engines potential, fantastic gains can be made in the vehicle’s torque, power and general drivability.

These include:
1. Improved power and torque
2. Greater engine flexibility
3. Increased fuel efficiency
4. Smoother throttle response

Turbo charged cars receive the greatest gains, however, naturally aspirated vehicles become much more lively and responsive. Not to mention greater fuel economy through increased efficiency. My BMW E46 325i really came to life with a performance tune and instantly gained approximately 50 kms per tank of fuel.

The process happens over a couple of days, firstly we need to download information from your vehicle’s ECU then this information is sent to Autologic™  for re-mapping. The next day we will receive the re-mapped software to upload into your car. The cost for this is $800. You will recoup this over the next year or so in fuel economy and driving pleasure.

TIMING BELT

An engine’s timing belt maintains the synchronicity of the reciprocating parts and requires replacement within the manufactures designated intervals. Failure to comply with these intervals can result in catastrophic engine damage.

Pace Motors insists on adhering to these intervals and will only use quality OEM or genuine replacement components for this procedure, being the toothed belt, the tensioner roller and the idler roller, and usually water pump and auxiliary drive belt, regardless of their condition at that time. For example, Audi requires that these components are replaced every 4 years or 90,000 kilometres, whichever comes first with no exceptions.

The cost to perform this procedure varies from make to make and model to model and is available upon request with all the vehicle details including the chassis number.

BRAKES

The maintenance requirements of your braking system may not coincide with the vehicle service intervals, however, almost all European vehicles are equipped with sensors that will illuminate a warning light on the instrument cluster when they are close to the end of their service life.

Usually around 1,000 km can be travelled after this light is illuminated before the vehicle will become unsafe to drive. We strongly recommend acting upon any warning light at the earliest possible time to avoid safety risks and excessive damage to your vehicle.

A report on your brake components condition and an estimate of the remaining service life is supplied with every vehicle serviced.

Pace Motors can provide a standard brake service using OEM (manufacturer approved) components, or an upgrade to a high grade imported rotor and pad package, delivering above average braking efficiency and usually expanding component life. Prices are available upon request for all brake servicing procedures and requirements.

We are now proud to announce the arrival of AKEBONO low dust ceramic brake pads from America for most models we service. This is an almost dust free, long life, no squeal brake pad with a fantastic feel on the brake pedal. The ceramic pads reduce the amount of wear on the brake disc, and reduce by 95% the brake dust build up that stains most magnesium wheels. The cost compared to standard pads is approximately 50% more but the benefits far out weigh the cost. If you love clean wheels and improved braking efficiency, these pads are well worth the small investment. This is an almost dust free, long life, no squeal brake pad with a fantastic feel on the brake pedal.
